How We Got Started
Honey Shelton began her career in banking on the teller line. She went on to work in a variety of positions but found herself drawn to marketing, sales and business development. In her role as Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer, Honey found her place in drumming up business and building the brand of the bank. The CEO she worked for afforded her plenty of opportunities to expand her reach and challenged her to grow and learn. With her responsibilities to contribute to the growth of the bank and to create an extraordinary service culture for both the employees and the customers, Honey uncovered a missing piece. The bank had high expectations but limited training support for the bankers. She created a training plan and went about executing it. A new passion was uncovered.
Years later a highly successful colleague that had started her own training company nudged Honey to do the same so in 1983 Honey formed InterAction Training. The company’s purpose then and now is to assist service providers with the need to expand the professional development of their staff.
InterAction Training has been privileged to work with over 300 clients around the country and a few overseas. The client list is comprised of financial institutions, state banking associations, credit union leagues and a mix of other industries, the vast majority of clients have booked the training firm time and time again.

Honey Shelton brings the best of both worlds to her speaking and training engagements. She has 30 plus years of experience as a training and quality improvement consultant for banks and banking associations across the country. Her substantial banking background includes spending three years as Executive Vice President/Chief Retail Banking Officer with a $1 billion south Texas bank.
Nationally recognized as an outstanding speaker, over a half million bankers have participated in programs Honey has presented. Her depth of knowledge, enthusiasm, and compelling personality have left a lasting mark on InterAction Training, the firm she founded in 1983.
As a graduate of the School of Bank Marketing from the University of Colorado, she realizes the value of quality education. Honey invests time as a faculty member for banking schools around the country. She is a repeat presenter for most of the state banking associations and has accumulated an impressive client list that includes over 300 banks, credit unions and other organizations. Globally, she presented a program in the south of France for an international, energy-related firm.
Honey has a coaching practice specializing in helping others pursue professional excellence and is the author of numerous published articles and training manuals. Her first book, Coaching Yourself & Others will be released soon.
As a member of the American Society of Training & Development (ASTD), Honey continues her personal pursuit of excellence and has obtained certification in Reality Therapy from the William Glasser Institute as well as certification from the Training and Development Program at Texas A&M.
Senior Training Consultant
Janice Branch has been a senior training consultant for InterAction Training for over twenty years. She is a Certified Bank Training Professional (CBTP) and seasoned presenter that has all the right stuff to wow her participants about the subject matter. Prior to joining InterAction, Janice was the Senior Manager of Training for Consolidated Communications where she managed, designed, coordinated and presented training programs for this multi-state telecommunications company with over 1000 employees.
Whether it is teaching how to coach, manage, lead, negotiate, service, sell or train at every level in an organization, or if it is consulting on problem solving and servant leadership, Janice is the “go-to” person every participant wants to hear from. Participants appreciate her “been there, done that” humor along with her expert ability to facilitate learning.
Janice has obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Management from Almeda University and is certified by the University of Houston in Leadership and Management. In addition, she has received trainer certifications from Achieve Global and Development Dimensions, Inc.
A native Texan, she enjoys many pursuits in addition to teaching and learning, but none more than being a grandmother and tending to her ten-acre home in Montgomery, Texas, just north of Houston.
Zack Merrill, CBTP
Senior Training Consultant
Zack Merrill is a Certified Bank Training Professional (CBTP), senior training consultant for InterAction Training. An experienced banker, Zack, ran a branch bank plus had full responsibility for developing and delivering training bank wide with a focus on exceptional sales and service. His experience and expertise for leading, coaching and training takes on a real-world, results-oriented approach in his speaking engagements, webinars and workshops.
In 2013, InterAction Training created, The Training Institute, an organization dedicated to setting the standard for those responsible for training effectiveness in financial institutions. Zack has oversight for evaluating the quality, progress, and testing of candidates seeking to earn certification.
Zack attended the University of Oklahoma and is completing a course of study to earn certification in Project Management. He is devoted to his work as a Worship Pastor and makes his home in Edmond, Oklahoma with his wife and son.
